I feel your "pain"! In the same position. My back teeth are literally chipping and breaking off in pieces. I too have insurance, just don't have the additional funds to cover the expense after the "discount" is applied. I have sent applications to the UT Dental school, but have never heard back. I am so scared this issue will eventually move to my front teeth. I work in customer service and will be too embarrased to face people. I don't think my employer will want me there. We have doctors without borders that help 3rd world countries which include dental care, but do not have a program for those in need in the USA. Maybe someone out there will have an answer for us.
